ADDICTION

Addiction is a habituated behavior born of the natural human impulse to soothe,
to connect, to love, to feel safe. Though non-pathological, it causes great harm. It
is the opposite of connection and part of the human condition.

It is a deeply ingrained response to stress and an
attempt to cope through self-soothing. Every Latin Root
“dysfunctional” behavior is an attempt to avoid addico: to a master,

suffering (so actually not so dysfunctional!) a slave, a devotee

                                                                                    addictus: a giving
                                                                                           over

“Addiction is any repeated behavior, substance related or not, in
which a person feels compelled to persist, regardless of its

negative impact on their life and the lives of others.”

What is your view of addiction?

What beliefs have you held or been told in the past?

How do you mentally & somatically associate with the word
                         “ADDICT”?
