ADDICTION
Addiction is a habituated behavior born of the natural human impulse to soothe,
to connect, to love, to feel safe. Though non-pathological, it causes great harm. It
is the opposite of connection and part of the human condition.
It is a deeply ingrained response to stress and an
attempt to cope through self-soothing. Every Latin Root
“dysfunctional” behavior is an attempt to avoid addico: to a master,
suffering (so actually not so dysfunctional!) a slave, a devotee
addictus: a giving
