EDITOR’S NOTE
2020, it’s amazing to think we have a new year and a new decade ahead of us. We have great opportu-
nities ahead of us, great. This is our second issue of VENTURE Magazine. I didn’t think that we would be
compiling this much data and talking to such amazingly qualified people and putting it together in a mag-
azine, not in a million years. BUT here we are. We have interviewed some of the top real estate investors,
developers, architects, engineers, and economists in the northwest. We’ve asked them great questions and
have great answers.
Great questions lead to great answers period. I listened to a great podcast with John Maxwell, which I
learned a lot from. He said he was introduced to the legendary basketball coach John Wooden. John
Maxwell came prepared with pages of questions for that meeting. So much so they spent hours together
as John Wooden wanted to answer all of John Maxwell’s questions. One of the main purposes of VENTURE
magazine is to ask great people, great questions. We are going to continue to do this, and bring the best
answers on what is happening in the real estate market in the northwest and beyond as we grow. We want
to be your go to real estate company for knowledge, the best knowledge from the best people all in one
place. Every issue is going to get better and better.
This issue we’ll be introducing our Future Section. Not Future the rapper, but Future as in what is coming in
the future in real estate. When we built the Adriana I had a lot of my friends and family look at me like I had
lost my mind a bit. The idea of building a 119 unit building had more than one person look at me in disbelief.
They questioned whether we would be successful or go down in flames. I’ve always thought big, why not?
Why not us? Why not you? I used to have a shirt that said, if not now, when? If we don’t look at the future
and what is coming and embrace it, we’ll be left behind by lack of forethought and preparation.
For 2020, I think we need to be prepared. That’s the best way I can describe it. We need to be prepared
for opportunities as I believe that the northwest will continue to see unprecedented growth over time. But
we also need to be prepared for a recession as one is highly possible and a correction will happen at some
point. How bad, who knows? I wrote an article preparing for the long game. The land we built the 119 unit
Adriana on was bought just before the Great Recession, and we held on, were patient and now we have a
fully leased cash flowing asset.
Thank you for taking the time to read this issue of Venture Magazine. We’re excited about what is happen-
ing here at Venture and the services we provide. We realized there is a void in the real estate marketplace
where high net worth families or individuals, or small- to mid-sized companies can invest their funds with
a firm who specializes in syndication like Venture, or use our expertise in the market to buy or sell their
assets. We have an ownership mentality.
So enjoy this issue, and please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if we can help you in any way.
