CLIENT REQUIREMENTS & KEY STAKEHOLDERS
KEY STAKEHOLDERS
This section discusses the stakeholders impacted and involved in a climate change
resilience plan for UmRio, its participants, and the local community in Morro do Castro.
Planning Ahead For Success
Primary Stakeholder
The primary stakeholder is UmRio, the client sponsor, Robert Malengreau, founded and
leads. UmRio plans, executes, and operates in the favela Morro do Castro and works to
implement a 5 Pillar plan to combat inequality and promote social justice. Any change
relating to the execution of these 5 Pillars will be reflected in UmRio’s vision and goals, as
well as in the efforts and work of its employees, volunteers, and community schools in
which they work.
Internal Stakeholders
Employees: UmRio’s employees create, implement, execute, and evaluate their
projects, programs, and operations through surveys and program participant
tracking. They are the first line of contact with the families and youth with whom
UmRio works.
Board of Directors: Members of UmRio’s Board of Directors are located in
several different countries. They are tasked with making strategic decisions,
confirming that UmRio is working to meet its goals, ensuring UmRio is following
local and international best practices for non-profits, and overseeing financial
accountability.
Volunteers: UmRio’s volunteers are critical to its mission. Some come from
overseas to spend periods helping and working with the youth. These individuals
offer their time, skills, and energy without any financial reward (indeed, many
donate to UmRio) to support UmRio.
External Stakeholders
Local Community Members: Residents of Morro do Castro, including students
directly impacted by the non-profit’s programs aimed at social justice, inequality
reduction, and climate resilience.
Schools: Schools in Morro do Castro, where UmRio implements educational and
awareness programs. Specifically, they are working in (XX Name of School)
