Carnivore diet involves cutting out all plant-
based foods and solely consuming meat, fish,
eggs, and limited lactose dairy products. The
recommended food options include beef,
chicken, lamb, turkey, organ meats, salmon,
sardines, white fish, and small portions of heavy
cream and hard cheese.
The idea of an exclusive meat diet can be traced
to the German writer Bernard Moncriff, author
of The Philosophy of the Stomach: Or, An
Exclusively Animal Diet in 1856, who spent a
year living on only beef and milk. It was
popularized in 2018 by former orthopedic
surgeon Shawn Baker, who wrote the book
“Carnivore Diet’ and Canadian psychologist
Jordan Peterson.
It is important to note that this diet may not be
suitable for everyone. It is not recommended for
people with kidney disease, pregnant or
lactating women, those who suffer from eating
disorders, and people with gallbladder issues.
