CROSSING OR VIOLATING
YOUR OWN BOUNDARIES
Crossing your own boundaries is when even though something doesn't feel
right or acceptable for you, you let the behavior continue without speaking
up or removing yourself from the situation. This is self-betrayal because
you're putting other people's feelings and needs ahead of your own.
For example, you're gluten intolerant but continue to eat cookies your
family member bakes for you so that you don't hurt their feelings.
Afterwards, you have a stomach ache because you went against your own
boundary. Another example would be hugging someone you don't feel
comfortable with so that you don't offend them by refusing the hug.
Self-Check-In
1.Have you ever found yourself allowing a behavior to continue that doesn't
feel right to you? If so, describe it.
2. Is there a certain person in your life that you find yourself crossing your own
boundaries for? If so, describe the situation.
