APOLOGIZING FOR
THINGS THAT AREN'T
YOUR FAULT
Have you ever apologized for something when you knew it wasn't your
fault? For instance, when someone bumped into you and you respond,
"Sorry about that!"
This is a form of self-betrayal because you're trying to manage the other
person's reactions and emotions, and ultimately trying to make them feel
better. When they're uncomfortable, you feel uncomfortable too. This
comes at the cost of honoring yourself and your truth.
Self-Check-In
1.Would you consider yourself someone who apologizes a lot? Do you feel like
you have to apologize all the time?
2. Name a time where you recently apologized for something when you knew
it wasn't your fault.
