This type of diet gained popularity when fat was
demonized.
A low-fat diet is an outdated and non-
conductive recommendation for those with
high cholesterol levels and gallbladder stones. It
is also popular among those aiming for weight
loss.
To have healthy cholesterol levels, reducing the
intake of unhealthy fats like sunflower oil, canola
oil, and margarine is advisable. However, poor
food choices such as highly processed foods,
sugars, and fructose are the main culprits
behind unhealthy cholesterol levels.
Also the malfunction of the gallbladder can
create unhealthy cholesterol levels. In my
Metabolic Balance Class, I teach natural ways to
address this common health issue.
Individuals with very good insulin sensitivity
who can efficiently use glucose as a fuel source
may benefit from low-fat diets. I have observed
this in my practice among individuals with
Eastern European and Russian origins.
Possible side effects
Detrimental impact on the hormones
Blood sugar fluctuations
Higher risk of insulin resistance
Poor vitamin absorption
